I was at a seminar last evening where they were discussing the "internet of things", which according to wikipedia is- "The Internet of Things refers to uniquely identifiable objects (things) and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure".
I was in awe of the cool concepts detailed by a person from LG electronics, imagine connecting most of your home devices to the internet and imagine what you can do with that! moreover imagine what data owners can do with that data!!
So it brings me to this thought, if massive amounts of money( also read data) is being made from the information superhighway should it not be a birth right of every human being of the free world? Just like the freeways and highways we have the right to choose and use.
And the answer should be YES!
I pay about 60 dollars every month for a "high"speed internet connection at home and probably connect around 10 - 12 devices to the network, this apparently falls under the medium bracket of home connected devices. To enter the higher bracket you need to have at least 20 or more devices connected. Yea, i guess that true for me as I don't yet connect the microwave, washers, fridge and myself to the internet!!!
I am hoping the near future, gigabit internet would be free to use to everybody on this planet with the ability to control every activity from the smartest hand held devices on earth.
